Shawnee is an author and yoga teacher in SW Washington. Well, that’s what she does in her spare time. Full-time, she is an academic advisor at the local community college and a mommy of two daughters.
Writing: Shawnee has published several health and fitness articles for various websites and magazines. She is in the editing phases of her first novel titled, “The Author and The Illustrator.” It’s an upper-middle grade modern-day fantasy. She is also in the beginning stages of an emerging reader chapter book.
Yoga: Shawnee loves yoga and has completed here 200 hour teacher training, she has also completed 32 hours of training and received a certificate of completion in Yoga as Therapy, and 25 hours of training as a Yoga for All certified teacher. Shawnee’s yoga classes are alignment-based, body-positive, and light on philosophy. It’s her desire to teach in a way that is inclusive of any body type, ability or background. She teaches a slow, Hatha-flow style class, and is big on modifying the pose (with props or by other means) to meet each student’s individual needs. She has also taught restorative, gentle, chair, prenatal, mommy and me, kids, beginning and fundamental style classes.
Yoga Schedule (at Tula Yoga and Jiu Jitsu): Thursdays at 6 p.m. and one Saturday per month.
